The Malar apartment, as advertised, is compact, efficient, clean, and functional. But it is also accommodating and comfortable and was always a pleasant and safe home-base to return to after long days and evenings in and around Paris.

Malar had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated and cosy. The queen size bed that pulls down from the ceiling was very comfortable and such an amazing design.

We stayed in the studio with the ceiling bed in April 2005. Even though it is very late I wanted to let you know we had a great time in Paris and the apartment was wonderful. Comfortable bed, furniture and plenty of hot water all in clean accommodations made for a very pleasant stay.

Description of our cozy Paris studio rental

Our cozy “Pastis” Paris studio rental is located on popular Avenue de la Bourdonnais on the Left Bank in the center of Paris, directly across the street and only one block from the Eiffel Tower. This ground-floor studio measures 200 square feet (plus mezzanine) and has been completely remodeled and furnished to take full advantage of every cubic inch, resulting in a pleasing mixture of sparkling new fixtures and appliances with the old-world charm of period-style furniture.

Pastis may seem a bit tiny when you first walk in, but this studio is so much more. The comfortable queen bed on the mezzanine above the dining nook frees up a ton of floor space and, along with a convertible double sofa, there is plenty of room to comfortably sleep three. It is less than you would pay for a tiny hotel room and, with a fully appointed living room, kitchen and bathroom, there is no compromising on amenities. And, as a rare plus, we have installed a large mobile air conditioner for those warm days or nights in Paris.

Then, step out the front door of your fashionable Haussman building and there she is, La Grand Dame de Paris rising up in all her glory. Turn right and find the Seine only a block and a half away. Turn left and you’ll find an exceptional pâtisserie on the corner for your morning croissants, delicious lunch, or Parisian desserts. There’s even a café on the opposite corner and small grocery store a few doors away. Of course, all of the delights of the 7th arrondissement, the open markets, shops, restaurants, bistros, and famous rue Cler open market are nearby for your enjoyment of la vie Parisienne. Pastis places you in the heart of the village-like atmosphere of the 7th arrondissement, truly one of the safest and most sought-after neighborhoods in Paris. And you won’t have to venture very far before coming upon some of Paris’ most interesting destinations, such as the Golden Triangle of Courture shopping, the legendary Four Seasons George V Hotel, the Trocadéro, and the Invalides, to name but a few. You won’t find a hotel room that offers all of this. Plus, with a fully appointed kitchen, you can shop for the freshest ingredients or fully prepared meals and save tons of money dining at your own table. Then, after one of those scrumptious desserts from the pâtisserie, simply walk out your front door, cross the street, and relax on a bench as you gaze up at what every visitor to Paris comes to see, the Eiffel Tower twinkling its magic light show. No cab rides . . . no long walks… just a hop and a skip from your cozy little nest across the street.

Step through the handsome double doors of a beautiful Haussman building on Avenue de la Bourdonnais and through the inner glass security doors of the lobby and the door to Pastis is straight ahead. You are immediately struck by the pleasing arrangement of furniture and colorful appointments that greet your eye. On your left is an antique black marble fireplace (decorative only) topped by a large white antique-style mirror framed by elegant candles. The 13+-foot ceilings give a wonderful feeling of space and light, accented by a beautiful crystal chandelier in the living room.

The ladder just beyond the fireplace raises your eyes to the chrome-railed mezzanine above the room where you’ll find a quality, queen-size bed. Further back on the left is the kitchen, and behind the marble bistro table and four upholstered chairs is the bathroom. On your right are the convertible sofa and coffee table, and all around the room are attractive lighting fixtures, elegant prints, and a welcoming sense of warmth.

The mezzanine is an engineering marvel and provides an attractive loft for the queen-size bed. There is plenty of headroom so you can sit in bed and read or relax at the end of a long day of sightseeing, individually controlled lights behind the bed, and we’ve installed a high-quality mattress to ensure a good night’s sleep. As in all of our apartments, we complement the bed with high-quality linens, pillows, and bedspread.

Walking back towards the kitchen you’ll find an antique-style writing desk sitting below four enormous windows framed in silk curtains. The windows look out on the building’s inner courtyard, providing some light, but, more importantly, means that this cozy Paris studio rental is very quiet; its location in the inner part of the building protects it from street noises. There is a high-speed internet line so you can answer emails and stay in touch with home for free.

Step into the kitchen and find a second window on the left that also looks out on the courtyard. The kitchen is quite pretty with blond wood cabinets above patterned marble-style countertops backed by large beige wall tiles. The upper walls of the kitchen, like those in the rest of this Paris studio rental, are painted off-white to capture and reflect the natural light coming in, as well as to enhance the interior lighting after the sun goes down. An old wooden wine press vice sits above the counters, in elegant contrast to the modern kitchen.

The high ceilings and décor give the entire apartment a light and airy feel, and the excellent lighting in the kitchen is an important touch. The kitchen has been supplied with every convenience imaginable, to include a microwave, oven, two-burner stovetop, below-counter refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, and espresso maker. You’ll also find a full array of stainless steel cookware and white porcelain dishes from Dehillerin, the company that supplies the finest restaurants in Paris.

The dining nook features a marble bistro table and four leather chairs. A charming circular mirror above the table adds a bit of light and space, and the rooster painting on the wall represents a symbol of France to remind you that you really are in Paris (and to save you the trouble of actually pinching yourself!). Our guests tell us that one of the best parts of their visit is shopping the open markets and preparing their own French cuisine to enjoy in their new home, and Pastis is surrounded by open markets.

Having a kitchen and dining area are among the many advantages of staying in a Paris apartment rental, as you don’t have to go out for every meal. You can enjoy eating with family and friends without having to get dressed up every evening. The French have mastered the art of ready-prepared dishes and foods, so you don’t even have to cook to enjoy great French cuisine. Children (and adults alike) love buying fresh warm croissants at the patisserie each morning, or choosing a special dessert after lunch or dinner. Our guests tell us that shopping for croissants and desserts is the best part of their children’s visit!

The sofa was made for us in Italy and is excellently engineered. It is extremely comfortable to sit on and easily converts into a comfortable double bed. Best of all, it simply flips open at night without having to remove any back or seat cushions — it couldn’t e easier to climb into bed! Beautifully decorated pillows and throw have been added so you can curl up and relax during the day. For your entertainment, find a flat-screen TV and dual-standard DVD player so you can bring your favorite movies or rent French ones nearby. We have installed cable so you can watch CNN, CNBC, etc. There is also a CD stereo, so bring your favorite music to play or choose from a small selection that we provide. Our Paris apartment rental also features high-speed adsl Internet access so you can download your emails and stay in touch with family and friends.

The bathroom of our Paris studio rental has been totally remodeled and upgraded with a glass-enclosed shower, toilet, sink, and decorative lighting. We kitty-cornered the sink to take up less space, and we installed glass shelves next to the shower as well as a mirrored vanity cabinet above the sink to provide extra storage room. The walls are decorated in large beige limestone tile and, well, we think you’ll find it as pleasing as we do.

Pastis provides a complete and comfortable Paris studio rental for an inexpensive price. It delivers all of the amenities you want without skimping on the details, allowing you to fully enjoy the experience of la vie Parisienne. It not only charms you from within, but step outside and you can’t help but be enthralled with where you are. There are very few places that can boast you’ll be greeted at your front door by the Eiffel Tower. Kids love to run up the tower stairs to the first and second levels, or simply stroll over to the park after dinner and enjoy the fact that you really are in Paris!

Staying in our Pastis Paris studio rental means you will have a most satisfying, relaxing, and unforgettable stay in the City of Light! We do almost no advertising because our guests come back year after year or send their friends and family.

We provide the very best linens and towels, designer soaps for the bath, and a large selection of Paris guidebooks and other information about the neighborhood for you to peruse during your stay.

Important Features and the Neighborhood:
  • A rare and unforgettable view of the Eiffel Tower as you exit the building of our Paris apartment rental.
  • One block to the Eiffel Tower and the gardens of Champ de Mars, a rare bonus in Paris as there are few large parks where you can walk, run, play in one of three playgrounds, enjoy the basketball court, go to the puppet theater, rent bikes and skates nearby, or just sit and enjoy. This is especially attractive on sunny days, when you can simply walk in the park or picnic on the grass and savor your moments in Paris.
  • Open Food Markets: Our Paris apartment rental neighborhood is famous for its open food markets where you will find more than any other quartier in Paris, offering a real opportunity to live like a Parisian. Merchants come from all over France with wines, fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, Brittany lobster, pâtés, breads, even five types of escargots!
    • Rue Cler is six blocks away from our Paris apartment rental, among the best and most famous streets for food in Paris; open every day including Sunday morning but many shops are closed on Mondays. Our favorite cheese merchant is here; tell them which day you wish to eat it and they will hand pick the perfect selection!
    • Pont de l'Alma, the largest open market in Paris and open every Wednesday and Saturday morning, is a five-minute walk from our Paris apartment rental.
    • Ave de Saxe is open on Thursday and Saturdays and features undoubtedly some of the most beautiful organic and deluxe food stands in Paris.

    • Rue du Commerce, a lively French neighborhood near La Motte Piquet métro, is a 10-minute walk from our Paris apartment rental. This became Napoleon’s headquarters and housed his elite Emperor’s Troops in 1795. The buildings still show gunfire signs from the French Revolution in 1789 and the shelling when the Prussians declared war on France in 1870 to defeat Napoleon III. There are four statues on the façade representing: Might, Peace, Victory, and France. The statue of Victory is of Louis XV. Few of them remain as the rest were destroyed during the French Revolution.
